YOUNG SPANISH ARTISTS PARTICIPATE IN THE “DEMOCRACY HERE. DEMOCRACY NOW.” CAMPAIGN OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE

The project which began as a six-day training by the end of August in 2022 in the Cantabrian town of Guriezo has resulted in the creation of an exhibition that is soon to be presented in the Council of Europe buildings in Strasbourg and Budapest.
During the training days participants explored topics of democracy, diversity, gender equality and citizen participation. After carefully mapping social issues and local conflicts, they came up with the digital and analogue poster ideas and developed them during the week.
It is intended to join efforts with the numerous civil society and institutional organizations coordinated around the campaign “Democracy Here.Democracy Now.” launched in March 2022 with the aim of increasing the role of young Europeans in revitalizing participatory democracy.
The exhibition has been attended by more than 200 institutional and civil society representatives during the Summer University of the North South Center held in September this year in Malaga, Spain. It was a great chance for the artists to disseminate their ideas through their posters not only on local and national, but also on a global level.
In addition to the exhibition in Strasbourg and Budapest, the works that have resulted from the PAMELA Visuals project have been distributed through various online platforms. Apart from online dissemination, there is a commitment from the British company Lush Co. to use them in an offline communication campaign supported by its more than 35 stores present in Spain (planned to be implemented in January 2023).
PAMELA has been an initiative of free-thinkers from La Sierra de Madrid, a small local organization very active at European level and coordinated in the Youth Peace Ambassadors Network, the only winner of the Shalom 2022 award for good practices in peacebuilding.

JÓVENES ARTISTAS ESPAÑOLES PARTICIPAN DE LA CAMPAÑA “DEMOCRACY HERE DEMOCRACY NOW” DEL CONSEJO DE EUROPA
El proyecto, que comenzó con un encuentro de seis días a finales de Agosto en la localidad cántabra de Guriezo, ha tenido como resultado la creación de una muestra que se va a exponer en los edificios del Consejo de Europa en Estrasburgo y Budapest.
A través de 15 creaciones originales, los artistas plásticos que participan de PAMELA visuals, han tratado temás de actualidad como la democracia, la diversidad, la igualdad de género y la participación ciudadana.
Se pretende sumar esfuerzos con las numerosas organizaciones de la sociedad civil e institucionales coordinados en torno a la campaña europea “Democracy Here, Democracy now” lanzada en 2022 con el objetivo de aumentar el papel de los jóvenes europeos en revitalizar la democracia participativa.
La muestra ha sido presentada frente a más de 200 representantes institucionales y de la sociedad civil durante la Universidad de Verano del North South Centre celebrada en Septiembre en Málaga creando grandes espectativas y funcionando como trampolín para la promoción de los creadores a nivel nacional y europeo.
Además de la exposición en Estrasburgo y Budapest, los trabajos que han resultado del proyecto PAMELA visuals han sido distribuidos en diversas plataformas online y existe el compromiso de la compañia británica Lush Co. de utilizarlos en una campaña de comunicación apoyada en sus más de 35 comercios presentes en el territorio español.
PAMELA ha sido una iniciativa de Libre-pensadores de La Sierra de Madrid, una pequeña organización local muy activa a nivel europeo y coordinada en la Red Youth Peace Ambassadors Network, ganadora unica del premio Shalom 2022 sobre buenas prácticas en construcción de paz.
